My name is Janice. I love music and I love the piano. I especially enjoy sharing it with others. Watching my students learn and grow continues to excite me, even after 25 years of teaching. I enjoy teaching a variety of ages, learning styles, and levels. I started taking lessons when I was 6 years old and piano has always been a part of me, from performing, to study, to teaching.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Over the years, I have honed in on some tried and true methods. I incorporate a few solid curriculums in order to best serve my students. Everyone learns differently and I take that into account. What works really well for one person might not work at all for someone else. I take the time to get to know my students and their learning styles so that I can tailor their music education precisely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People often ask me what the right age is to start learning piano. I believe that the perfect age to start taking lessons is when someone is really excited about it. That’s the simple answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kids, start young if you can. It’s easier to build habits when you’re younger. If you start in grade school, the piano will always be a part of you. Even if you only study it for a couple of years, it will be easier to come back to later if you so choose. If you decide to pivot to a different instrument, the piano will have provided you with the foundation on which to build.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adults, I strongly believe that it’s never too late to learn. I won’t deny that it’s challenging to learn something new as an adult. I have a regular habit of trying new things. It only takes a few things to be successful: patience, motivation, and the ability to not take yourself too seriously. I absolutely love teaching adults. My adult students are usually my most enthusiastic learners, because you are fulfilling a lifelong dream. If you want it badly enough, you’ll do it, and you’ll it well! I believe you can.
